  1. GO TO COLLEGE.  i cant stress that enough.  to be a professional actress, you need to be able to write a good resume and a good letter, and colelge helps tremendously with this and with developing your acting skills.  Keep auditioning for minor things and maybe get an agent to find you bigger roles, just stay in shcool.  And, if acting doesnt work out for you, because its true that even talented people sometiems never get found and never become famous and starve (like alot of my friends who have tried acting), you can have a degree to fall back on so you can at least teach or something (whcih many of my friends dont have, so they have trouble waiting tables just to make ends meet).

  2. audition for plays at therters maby start out in the backstages crew and make your way up :)

  3. Um, don't stop going to school.  You need to be able to present yourself professionally in writing.

But perhaps go to a school that specializes in acting and performance arts.  Develop several talents (such as singing and dancing), at least to some extent, to make yourself more versatile.

Beyond that, it's all about who you know.  Get out, meet lots of people in the business, make yourself known, and eventually get a good agent.

  4. I agree with a previous responder.    Acting is a text-based verbal skill - and from your post, it appear that you are LACKING in this department.  If you had to write dialog that sounded like a slight spacy junior high kid - it would sound like your post.  Spelling, punctuation - you will need this and MORE to succeed in acting.

You need EDUCATION - first, a decent general education, and then specific professional training.  Your HS skills must be very good for you to get into a FINE college with an excellent drama department.  NOBODY wants you until you are prepared at a creditable level. Nobody is going to*discover* you when there is little there of quality and refinement YET to discover! So from today, make sure that you hone what skills you have.  I think if you slowed down and re-wrote your post, you could present yourself better - and that is the ENTRY skill for all acting situation, be they classes or a professional audition.  Hey - you asked for help - this is the FIRST thing that I would tell you to do, if you were my student - and I have taught THOUSANDS of young people how to represent themselves on stage.

You may not agree with me, but you can see that I have over SEVEN HUNDRED Best Answers in Performing Arts and Music, in about a year of being a YA member - so I am getting through to *someone*.

  5. There is no answer. Everyone has a different story. But I'll tell you right now. If you want to be taken seriously, you need an agent. Kal Penn (Kumar, from "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle") went to my high school. My school has a performing arts program that I use to be in.

Anyways, Kal came back to our school one day to tell us about being a famous actor. He told us how he made an audition for a famous agency in the U.S. and didn't get a response until 3 years later. He got ONE offer for an agent, and took it.

But that's a huge risk. Most agents want call you because by the time you made the tape, you were 3 years younger.

My suggestion is go to a college with a confirmatory performing arts program. Good performing arts colleges host an end of the year benefit that show the colleges greatest performers. The college invites agents from all over the country. Some colleges even pass out the student's portfolios to the agents at the performance. If you're lucky, someone will like your work, and want to be your agent.

But I'm going to tell you know. If you're going into acting, you have to like EVERY part of it. 95% of acting is rehearsal, and only 5% performance.
