  1. it's hard to say.  here's the problem, what's 'not much'?

what you can do is everytime you put gas in your car punch the trip odometer.  then you'll know how far you went on a tank of gas.  the next time you fill up, write down the # of gallons and miles, the post it here.  someone will tell you your mileage.

i am guessing from the size of fill up that it's a large car.  (20 gallon tank) i'm also guessing that  most of your driving is in city.  and if you are a little heavy on the pedal?  these things will all affect fuel economy.

  2. the numbers don't add up.

you're driving 2 hours on 18 to 20 gallons of gas?

someone must be stealing gas from your tank every night.

  3. Depends. Right now where I live $70 will buy you 20 gallons and you should be able to get 400 miles out of that. If you spend 2 hours driving you'd have to be going 200mph to be emptying the tank that fast.

First thing I'd do would be replace spark plugs. The spark plugs I'd replace with NGK plugs. I'd also replace the fuel filter (they are only $10) and replace the air filter with a K&N reuseable one (or clean the existing one if you do have a reusable one).

Beyond that if you still have problems you should look into O2 sensors, catalytic converters, vacuum lines, fuel lines and etc.

  4. Does your engine light come on? Why? Because a sensor going bad such as an Oxygen sensor or throttle position sensor can tell your computer to use more gas. Are you a lead foot? Is the air pressure in your tires at the right level? Is your air filter clean- if not it will use more gas. And hopefully there is no feul leaks on the car! All of these things are gas killers! Good luck and hope this helps!

  5. You either have

    A>a gas guzzler

    B>a gas leak

or C>someone pumping gas out of your car during the night.

If it is C, Try buying a lockable filler cap for your car.

Or D> u use too much ac.

  6. My outback was doing the same thing. Hogging the gas. The problem with mine was it needed a new air filter and the oil changed. Try this it may help it did on my gas bill.
