(10 points on who can answer) The ocean without water?

Question

I've always wondered.. say you were walking on the coast of some ocean, now imagine that there was no water in the ocean, you would be looking out at a 3-5 mile deep hole in the ground, of course it doesn't just drop straight off. but that would be kinda cool... if anyone would take the time to post some links that might show a picture of this, please do so.. I;ve looked and looked and cannot find any pics of that. But I am SURE there are some out there. So PLZ post some links related to this.

If there were no ocean, the sea level (ground) would gradually be getting lower as you walk the coast. It wouldn't be exactly a big hole that you fall in. It would be dry and have cracks like in the dirt as you see in deserts if it were hot. Logically, if it were hot there wouldn't be water nor ocean.

it would just look like a huge valley or dent in the earth

imagine a wider grand canyon or a huge sinkhole

You might try looking at a photo of Meteor Crater in Arizona.  It is far smaller than an ocean, but it might give you the kind of view you are looking for.
