Depends on the armchair.. battering armchairs could get quite expensive though and you might upset people eg, wife, girlfriend, Mum etc.

no an arm chair is too soft get yourself a strong plastic bag pref a clear one and fill it with sand then you have the same affect

No. A punching bag is harder and it moves. You can't train with an armchair except your opponent is as stiff and unable to move like your armchair.

yeah i wouldnt use a sofa. Its soft and you could do more damage than good. Try argos they have reasonable priced leather punch bags or this is an inflatable one and cheap
