I am about to buy a 50 gallon SeaClear aquarium. It says it comes with a skimmer box. What is that? Also, should I use a canister filter? What filter should I use?

A skimmer is a thing that removes a dirt calicum, etc. Though its most likely used in saltwater aquariums and helps live rock cycle. For the filter I would use a tetra power filter or somthing.

A skimmer box is an enclosure usually built into the back corners of an aquarium. They may be plastic, glass or plexiglass. In the bottom of the skimmer box there is a hole for a return to a sump or filter. These boxes work off of gravity. The water fills the aquarium and when it gets to the height of the skimmer box it overflows into the box and then into wherever (sump or filter). They are most common on reef ready aquariums.
