To all you theatre buffs:
I've looked all over the Internet for a good list of the best-of-the-best female characters in the history of theatre. I'm looking for good monologues/scenes for a tape I need to send out, but I'm also just really interested in what people think.
So, I'm hoping for a good 20 to 30 (or even 100) roles, and they don't have to all be from different shows. The character can be from a musical or play (drama or comedy) and can be a lead or a supporting character -- I don't care which.
Please put them in order from the best (in your opinion) and onward.
My list so far:
1. Helena (A Midsummer Night's Dream)
2. Peter Pan (Peter Pan)
3. Annie Warbucks (Annie)
4. Miss Adelaide (Guys and Dolls)
5. Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet)
6. Maria (The Sound of Music)
7. Abigail (The Crucible)
8. Tracy Turnblad (Hairspray)
9. Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady)
10. Christine Daaé (The Phantom of the Opera)
10 points to the first REALLY GOOD list! Good luck!
