  1. i don't no about tryouts, but for long day tournament we have people bring bagels, cheese and crackers, pasta salad, lots and lots of water, and subs. There's an energy bar called harvest bar and they taste pretty good and are great for pre-game stuff. good luck with tryouts and i hope u do great. just don't over eat and eat c**p!!!

  2. A piece of white bread with peanut butter on it. Peanut butter for quick energy and white break for long lasting energy.

  3. Carbs for energy! Pasta, like spagetti, alfredo and noodles, and chicken added, for protein!

  4. Way before the tryouts, eat foods high in protein (meats).  As the day comes near, eat foods high in carbohydrates (pasta).

Many people think that they should stay away from foods with fat.  However, you need "a little" food with fat content.  Stay away from Trans-fat.  You need fat to burn for energy.

The night before, stay away from salads as lettuce digests slowly.

  5. Oranges are great just before and during the tryouts for good instant energy. Several hours before the tryouts eat a good meal of carbs like spagetti, noodles, etc.

  6. soup like ramen and stuff for energy and a side salad with bacon bits *no fat* for taste

  7. The best foods to eat *right before an event* are foods you normally eat.

Trying to change your diet close to a time when you'll have to perform at peak is bad as it throws off your system.

  8. u can have sugars but not alot, i would say just healthy food but not too much (or too little), if u eat to much it can slow u down but if u dont eat enough it will also make an effect on u because u will be so hungry that u wont b able to play ur best. also b4 tryouts take a snack like a banana, crackers, or a energy bar, also take water, gatorade or a energy drink it will help u alot.

  9. Everything that has carbs in it! Eat a lot of fruits and veggies, and even if it's fattening sometimes, drink lots of milk, since it's good for your bones! Good luck on your training weekend!

  10. Day before:

To maximize your energy, the night before tryouts you should eat a full meal of pasta and high carbs.  Make sure this is the night before otherwise it won't have the same effect.  Pasta is filled with complex carbs that take a while to break down into energy.  If you eat it the day of a game it will not be broken down in time, or two days before it will most likely be gone by then.  Also your regular fruits and vegetables.  Focus on citrus fruits as well as carrots.

    Day of:

Oddly enough research has shown that one of the best drinks for you before you play is chocolate milk.  This is because your body is not in need of replenishment but chocolate milk has the energy and other vitamins that help.  (just make sure you don't drink too much).  Eat a normal meal the day of tryouts.  Feel free to stay away from fatty foods, and candy or such, but doing this for one day won't make that big of a difference.

    During:

Make sure to stay hydrated the whole time.  Energy bars, granola bars are good fillers while you have a break during practice.  A great think to have with you are bananas because the contain a lot of potassium, which prevents cramping.  It is also a great idea to have a quick energy booster with you (although you may not use it).  I always suggest a bag of skittles.  This energy boost is not there to make you play better, but if you are not feeling well, or totally run down it will refresh you, so it's not a bad idea to have them on hand just in case.

    After:

Make sure you're still fully hydrated, and you replenish yourself.  There's nothing set for you to eat afterwards, so at this point, focus on your health, and make sure that you feel good.

    THINGS TO STAY AWAY FROM:

-attempt to stay away from really fatty foods (trans-fat), as well

-High sugar foods.  They give you a quick burst but then run you out.

-Energy drinks.  This one is important.  No RED BULL.  or almost any other energy drink.  They are not approved by the FDA, and are actually not healthy for you.

    Good luck with tryouts

  11. meatif u want to build muscle becuz meat has lot of protien. If u want to play ur best, i kno it sounds funny but eat carbs before a game

  12. vitamin water is very hydrating. you can get it pretty much any grocery store. also 100 calerie snack packs. and fruit. also kashi gronola bars.
