10 pts best. DOWN WITH A COMP VIRUS! HELP?

Question

Just yesterday my computer was down with 7 viruses, 6 of which was cleared. But one virus was persistent, so i need help!

My homepage was changed to that website time and again!!!

I changed it back to my original yahoo one.

But everytime i shut down, then on it again, or restart, it changes back to that website.

It is apparent that many problems have been created. Such as closedown of ongoing programmes and cutting off my typing.

I have yahoo-ed and google-d the website and results showed that it's a problem more than 100 thousand users have been down with!

I need help solving this problem! I can't find any solutions. This virus is only getting worse! And i have troubles using the computer for project works of sort. I really need help.

People out there, please help me! And be careful of that website!!!

I can only assume the virus/malware has planted a link in your registry and I wouldn't want to try and give advice on registry fixes.

You may be able to find it in your processes by pressing ctrl +alt +del and click on processes, you will only be able to shut it down from there but if you find the name of it, you may then be able to find it in your registry.

Firstly, switch off System Restore, you can restart this once your computer is clean. You do this because a lot of infections hide in these restore points and reactivate themselves after you have scanned your computer.

You say you have AVG, I don't recommend this one but if you are happy with it then skip the Avast part and run the rest and you'll be clean.

I always recommend the following be stored on computers and install them myself on any I repair.

Avast Home Edition http://avast.com

Run a full scan once a month. I find this the best free anti-virus software

SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com

Update and run a full scan once a week.

Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org

Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

Run this daily.

Comodo Firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Check that you don't need to defragment monthly and also run a Disk Cleanup monthly too.

an anti virus is not meant for each n every virus....

if it cannot remove the virus u must first know about the virus n then react to it accordingly....

do not panic...

I will recommend u to download original MC A FEE antivirus

remember there r least chances to get an original one......

do not download for free it will be duplicate....

U will have to buy it frm registered stores

Your problem is NOT a virus, but  a malicious codec.

Try the following free programs;

Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Run vundo

Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

try using malwarrior or rogue remover with ccleaner.

if problem still persist or if you are unable to download them due to the virus, try using sdfix but it is not recommended unless you are really desperate.

before you run them post a hijack this log for people to suggest if you should run it

AVG 8 is a poor Antivirus program which has a poor antispyware program with it.

Spybot S&D is a antispyware program.

You do not have a virus, you have a browser hijacker (spyware).

try some startup manager and block the suspected program from startup! try avg antivirus i use neva had probs i surf the net 10hrs per day and i mean it i visit all sorts of site!! im a download junkie!
