  1. I'll try to think of some reasons, well, okey all reasons I could think of.

    1) Because explaining to "ignorant" people what vegan means is very very hard.

    2) Because the transition from eating meat to veganism or vegetarianism to veganism is pretty hard since you need to know alot of things, alot of food additives that you have to go away.

    3) Because it's very very hard to gain support or even respect from meat eaters. (in my own experience)

    4) Because cooking vegan dishes is tiring (not in my case though, perhaps to some. i enjoy cooking)

    5) Because shopping for grocery takes a lot of time and planning. Although fruits and veggies are very convenient, some food still needs to be thoroughly browsed.

    6) Because people think you are strange, a hippie and different.

    7) Because bringing up your reasons for going vegan in some situation makes people put there thumbs down. Well seriously, it happened to me.

I cant think of any now.

  2. 1)We did not get to the top of the food chain just that that we can eat like some lowly herbivore.

2)Higher intelligence means the eating of meat, it does not take a lot of intelligence to hunt down a blade of grass, but it does take higher math skills to hunt down a running gazelle or other grazing type animal.

3)Women menstruate monthly and for early humans meat was an easily accessible form of iron, which women need a lot of to replace blood lose.

4)Meat provides valuable vitamins and minerals that the body needs.

5)Animal by products like milk, eggs provide valuable vitamins and minerals that humans need.

6)Non-industrialized countries can not produce synthetic alternatives like margarine, multi vitamins, etc

7)Even growing enough food stuffs is not possible without modern farming equipment and techniques.

8)Vegetarianism and veganism are unnatural lifestyles for creatures that can eat the variety of foods that humans can.

9)Humans are a predatory type species, it is our job to keep the populations of herbivores in check.

10)Meat and animal products taste so much better than the alternatives.

  3. This list is assuming a switch to lacto-ovo veg, rather than omnivore. They are in no particular ranking, just the order they popped into my head.

    1. It'll be easier on your non-vegan friends when they have you over.

    2. It'll give you more options for eating out.

    3. People will bug you less about how your diet is just oh so unhealthy. :D

    4. You'll have a wider range of cruelty-free beauty products to choose from. (Burts Bees is awesome.)

    5. You can trick other folks out by eating the realistic looking fake meats (almost all of which contain eggs or dairy) in front of them.

    6. You can wear more clothing. (I personally wouldn't wear leather, but I wouldn't have a problem with wool if I wasn't allergic to it.)

    7. Plain old vegetarianism is nicer to dogs. The longest living dog is a vegetarian, so it's safe to say it's healthy, and a dog CAN be vegan, but they don't like it. They don't seem to mind being vegetarian, though.

    8. Ben & Jerry.

    9. Milk Chocolate.

    10. People are less likely to think you'll be preachy.

  4. I don't have to list ten becasue for every reason you can think to why you should be a vegan, there is always an opposing view. List a hundred if you want, it doesn;t make a difference becasue I don't agree with those reasons.

One thing the people here seem to miss is that veganism is a lifestyle chice. People are free to do it or not to do it without having to justify this choice to anyone but themselves. Your reasons for being a vegan makes sense to you. As it should because it is quite stupid to do something you don't really believe in. Why I am not is based on reasons that make sense to me. What's the difference

Asker, arguing with user fro whom you requested answers is ludicrous. If you are going to debate or ridicule every answer that does not agree with your own prejudices, then it's best not to ask a question in a FREE, OPEN froum.

  5. Maybe you like chasing animals down, beating their brains in,ripping their skin off, cutting them up in chunks and frying them. I think that's 5. You might also like eating more pollution since the further up the food chain you go the more concentrated it is.

  6. I can only come up with one.

    1. It isn't the most convenient dietary preference and lifestyle since a lot of people do not care about carrying vegan suitable foods (regarding fast food places and restaurants), but that is changing over time.

That is the only negative thing I can think of, but it is not a big enough reason to NOT become a vegan because it is doable and more than worth it.

  7. the only reason more people arent vegans/vegetarians is that they are too hard headed....they wont cause it "tastes to good"

    bovine fecal matter

there is not any good reason not to go veg

  8. Hmm... I came up with 8. :D

    1. You are ignorant of where your food comes from.

    2. You know where your food comes from, but are too heartless to care.

    4. You listen to everything your imaginary friend in the sky says in his outdated work of fiction.

    5. You believe the c**p people say about vegans being emaciated and unhealthy.

    6. You think compassion is unmasculine or unattractive.

    7. You are afraid of people judging you for your choices, when in reality it happens more than you know.

    3. People will think you're a PETA freak (Coming from a vegan who is against PETA).

    4. Christians may jump on you for not eating meat (Happened to me before).

    5. You're too lazy to eat the wonderful substitutes out there. (Made the BEST batch of vegan cookies...non-vegans asked me to sell them and little kids begged for them, not to mention adults)

I am glad I am vegan and I don't see me changing my diet. I had too hard of a time finding reasons NOT to be vegan.

  10. Yeah 10 is too hard. Because their are only a couple things wrong with going vegan.

    1. If  a vegan diet not perfectly balanced to perfection like for instance not getting enough b,B12,and iron which is plentiful in animal products, it could cause infertility

    2. With vegetarianism it's easy to get the protein you need since you can eat free-range eggs, organic milk, organic yogurt, and cheese.

Thats all i could think of

I do know of a few suppliers of raw meat diets for pets who also sell dozen packs of truly free-range eggs raised on their farms that people buy for themselves too not just their dogs and cats.

EDIT: I agree with One Little Veg.

Hey, look! I got some thumbs down. Big surprise. That's what happens when you invite a bunch of narrow minded meat-eaters to convince you why not to choose the HEALTHIER lifestyle. And I'm not being rude. It's the truth.

  16. I am vegan but I'm going to take a stab at this. = )

    1. Lack of support from family and friends due to

    2. Poor understanding and stigma of the lifestyle

    3. Lack of good, useable nutritional information for the average consumer

  17. Many vegan food substitutes are very heavily processed and packed with all kinds of chemicals. This can't be good for the body!

  18. I will not be mean but respect my 10 reasons. I'm a 17yo lacto-ovo vegetarian.

1 - I like real ice cream, not that soy stuff.

    9 - I like wool.

10 - I'm a vegetarian for personal reasons, I have no desire to join a cause like Vegenism.

  19. This is really hard because although I am pretty much an omnivore I respect other individuals' eating habits and their reasons, but here are the best 10 I can come up with. Sorry if they get redundant:

    •   If you're planning on getting pregnant it is safer for your baby's development to not be vegan (this from a vegan at work who did a lot of research before she and her husband started their family)

    •   It's easier to get enough protein if you're not vegan.

    •   You're less likely to be teased or ridiculed by people whose respect you don't need anyway.

    •   It's easier to get enough iron in your diet if you're not vegan.

    •   It's easier to find shoes that fit if you have problem feet (leather stretches to your foot).

    •   It's easier to find restaurants to eat out at with your friends.

    •   There are a lot of great recipes that don't taste as good when done vegan.

    •   It's easier to get a balanced diet generally.

    •   Pizza tastes really good--especially veggie pizza, but cheese isn't vegan.

    •   It's easier than explaining to people why you're a vegan.
