Ok I don't want to take the drugs like Gas-X or Gaviscon. I just want to take something more natural.

My mother recommended boiling bay leaves and making a tea. Anyone have something they can recommend that's safe while pregnant?

  1. Let it out, whats more natural than that!

I was a fartin', burpin' freak during the later part of my first trimester. It gets better. But while I was subject to this, so was everyone else...lol.

  2. You should consult with your physician, this might be the safest way to go about this :)

  3. Fry cumin seeds (jeera). Boil it in water.  The water will turn yellow or brownish yellow.  Drink the water warm or hot.  By the time an ounce of it goes in the gas will settle in their respective places.  There is no need for expelling the gas.  The Vayus (air) in tbe body has specified abodes and when they leave their specific places, the trouble starts. If they can be pacified and send back to their respective places the stomach becomes calm.   Cumin seeds does that.  If you are in India, there are specific medicines called Dhanwandharam Gulika (Vayu gulika) for pacifying air.  Chew one or two of them in the mouth will pacify gas naturally. These are products of Kottakkal, Coimbatore and may be Dabar.  with best wishes.

  4. Peppermint tea is good for gas.

  5. enzymes is a good answer but there  are particular enzymes called invertase or Alpha-galactosidase that are especially for gas. They are natural enzymes, and  not always found in enzyme formulas so be sure to check the labels when you look at enzyme products.  Another  thing to try is a probiotic, like acidophilus.  This speed up the fermentation process in the gut that can cause gas, therefore less gas produced.  Try those yogurt products like Activia advertised on TV.  They have probioticsand help with gas and regulating your digestive process.  Probiotics are friendly bacteria involved with the digestive process after the enzymes to their work and get nutrients to your cells and process waste for better elimination.  You tend to have less during pregnancy for some reason.  That is why pregnant people get more yeast infections...because they are lacking  sufficient good bacteria.   There are even combinations probiotic/enzyme formulas on the market.  These are natural products.  I would stay away from herbs during pregnancy.

  6. Well, the best way to treat gas is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Typically, gas and indigestion are caused by improper digestion of your food, which is commonly from either not enough stomach acid or insufficient enzymes.

My best suggestion would be to go to your local healthfood or drug store and get a good digestive enzyme complex... they are perfectly safe to take while you're pregnant because they work only in the stomach. Within a couple days of using it, you should notice a difference.

Aside from that, you could try to selectively find out which foods you're eating that's causing the gas and remove those foods... but unless you already know which foods are causing the gas (meaning which foods you don't have enough of the proper enzymes for), it could take months to find all of them. Good luck!

  7. You're in a critical stage of your pregnancy, it would best to consult your Ob/Gyn before taking anything, especially herbs.
