10 year anniversary?

I am taking my wife to Italy for our 10 year anniversary (but she doesn't know it) in April. I was thinking about spending 3 days in Rome, one day in Florence, and 3 days in Venice. Would this be good? We've never been to Italy. Should we simply stay in either Rome or Venice the entire week?

  1. i think that sounds great!  the best part about europe is that it's soo easy to travel around over there.  you could extend it to 2 weeks and REALLY do some traveling!

i think the way you divided it sounds great, although i've never been, i have friends who have spent time in italy

  2. That should work, but I would recommend 2 days in Florence and two in Venice. Even though the historical center of Florence is pretty compact, there's a lot to see and do. If you trip includes Easter, Florence would be a good place to be for the holiday. The Scoppio del Carro celebration in Piazza Duomo is interesting - you have to be vigilant to get a photo of the mechanical dove flying out of the Duomo and setting off the fireworks...or if you're in Italy on the 25th of April, Venice has the Festa del Bòcolo as a part of St Mark's Day - be sure to present your wife with a rose. The 21st of April is when Rome celebrates it's founding - the archaeologic sites and museums are free, there are gladiator shows, and a big fireworks display.

If you trip will be within a week of Easter, you'll need to book seats on the trains in advance. It's a high travel period here.

  3. I suggest you to stay the entire week in Rome!

It's my favourite city! I'm Italian, but I live in Milan. :(

There are a lot of historical, cultural and romantic place to visit in Rome... and I can assure you in 1 week you will see only a little piece of the city (this means that in 3 days you will see only Colosseo, Via Condotti, Piazza di Spagna and S.Pietro Church)!

During spring the city is full of flowers, and the wether is pleasant! LOVELY!

  4. I suggest one day in Milan.
