We are throwing a birthday party for my little brother at a Park in June. I just wanted to get some ideas about what you all think would enhance his experience. It is a Sports Theme (so everyone has to wear a team jersey, etc). Menu to be spaghetti, hot wings, sandwich tray, fruit tray, salad. How do I keep this warm? I'm thinking disposable chafing dishes but where do I get them? how much? Drinks wil be punch out of a big dispenser and bottled water. Do you think this is a good menu? Why?. I need ideas on how to decorate, goody bags, games, etc. Invitation ideas (I will make them). The main activity will be a water war (balloons, guns, etc.) Where should I go 2 find cool stuff 4 kids. Also my mom wants the party 2 start at 11 am, I think thats too early. As of now the party will be from 11:30 am until 4-5pm (this will also be a family affair). I'm expecting well over 50 guests. Please give me clues as to how 2 make this day smooth

FYI: He is very smart and concerned about being cool

  1. you should add some chips and dip. there are some really good recipes online (my fave one is u put salsa and velveeta cheese in a bowl and melt it in the microwave {1-3 minutes} and serve!) use team color streamers, uhm try a party city online. the invites should have liek footballs on them or watever his fave sport is. wow that is a long time for a party. you need more activities. i dont know many off the top of my head but if u want u can email me- Saras_world214@yahoo.com

  2. Sounds like you have a good plan for that day.  You can get the majority of the supplies you need (chaffing dishes, etc) at Smart and Final.

  3. You can get the chafing dishes (disposables) at Smart & Final or rent them from a party supply place - the kind that rents tents, chairs, tables, etc... You should be able to get them fairly cheaply for a couple days.

For decorations, try a party supply store - they are called Party City here, but will have similar names. They have lots and lots of themes, and a sports theme is pretty common. You should be able to get lots of decorations and party favors there. The 99 Cent store is another good place for inexpensive decorations and favors.

For some other sports related games, look at Target or Wal-Mart for some games - try either toys or sporting goods for family activities like volleyball, horseshoes, mini soccer, etc...

You should be able to get water pistols and balloons inexpensively at Wal-Mart.

The party time sounds fine - 11 am is late enough that kids will already be hungry for lunch, and I am sure they will be well worn out by 4 or 5 pm.

  4. maybe move the schedule to 12 when everyone is fully awake
