I was looking through an old trunk of mine, and I found a 100,000 dollar bill from Banca D'Italia. I think that's italian, and it's from 1983. What's it worth?

  1. It's probably 100,000 Lira. Should be worth about $76.

  2. That is worth approximately 50 euros (1,900-odd lire to the euro): I'm not sure if that's more or less than 50 dollars, but it's not a fortune. The Banca d'Italia has undertaken to exchange all legal tender in lire for euros, but you first have to get it there! I doubt they do it by post.

If you hang on to it long enough and it's in good condition, it might end up being worth more as a collector's item. The Italians are very fond of collecting things.

  3. Take it to a currency converter... You can find one in the airport...
