Question:

100-200 CFM Fan with Power Cord?

I purchased a small carbon scrubber off eBay. I have some chemical smells from a automatic cat litterbox and the smells are bothering me. The carbon scrubber was recommended. Unfortunately, it didn't come with the fan. I'm looking for a small 100-200 CFM fan with a normal power cord so I can plug it in. Most of the fans I see all need you to attach a power cord, etc. Any recommendations?

  1. You have a much bigger issue than power.  It is air static pressure.  Static pressure is the resistance to air movement that the fan has to over come in the system.  I assume the fans you are looking at are rated for 100 to 200 CFM at somewhere between .25" and .5" WG (water gage).  Most carbon scrubbers are 1" to 3" WG.  Those small fans cannot over come that kind of static pressure drop.  There is not small inline fan made that can handle that much static pressure.

If you have ever used a hand pumped ceramic filter while camping you can understand this idea.  You have to press very hard on the handle to get a small amount of water out of it because the filter is very very good.  If you are not strong then no water gets through the filter.  It is the same for air using a very good filter and a fan.
