  1. that's a pretty good time. a mile is about 1686 metres and a kilometre is 1000 metres.

  2. for an 11 year old, that is pretty good

  3. When I was 13, my time was about 3.30 for 1000m.

Your bro will be a  better runner than me, I'm sure.

My best was 4.25 for 1500m at 16

  4. That is a pretty good time for an 11 year old. I would hazard a guess to say he could be a talented track or cross country athlete. If you are running on a standard outdoor track, 1000 meters is 2.5 laps, or 5/8 of a mile. One mile is approximately 1600 meters, and one kilometer is 1000 meters.

  5. 1000 meters = 1 kilometer

    1000 meters / 1 kilometer = .62 miles

    1 mile = 1.60 kilometers

    1 mile = 1609 meters

If your brother could maintain that pace for a full mile his time would be 5:37 or a 5:14 for the 1500 meters.

I would suggest that he do some time trials for more conventional distances like 800 meters, 1500 meters, the mile or 3000 meters in order to more easily compare his time  with others and test his strengths.

It certainly is a promising first performance.

  6. That would win a state medal in Queensland Australia. I don't know what time I did for that distance when i was that age. My personal best is 2min 23sec on road.
