i just bought a "working" amp off my friend. i installed it in my car and the protection light came on. after messing around for a little while to see what might be wrong, i noticed that when i remove the fuses the protection light goes off. naturally at this point the subs don't work since the fuses are removed....any ideas???? thanks

  1. i am not sure but the first thing i would try to do is change the fuses but more then likely the amp is having internal problem and you could get it fixed but it wouldn't  be worth the money it dose not take much to damage  the internal components of the amp

  2. replace the fuses on the amp. and the one on the battery terminal.

if you dont have a fuse line hooked up to your battery that also is a problem you always need a fuse line by the battery for safety procedures.

  3. replace the fuse

check the wiring of your subs

make sure the amp can handle the ohms youre running at

  4. check ur ground out of the amp make sure its on metal and no paint then ur amp wire should be 4 or 2 gauge and the fuse should be no smaller than a 60 amp dont use walmart power cords ect its garb.

  5. make sure that your all of the wires especially the pos and ground dont go past the connection to touch the actual amp   will cause short or   the protection setting to occur.

  6. I would double check your pos, grd, and remote wires make sure they are secure.

  7. the transistor outputs on your amplifier are blown, put it in the shop.
