Question:

1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die??

I'm considering getting this book for a male friend who's interested in art.

As this person is a friend "only", I just wanna be sure there's nothing too intimate or not any naked paintings inside..

Does anybody know?

  1. Agreed, if he is actually into art then he won't bat an eyelash at some nude-paintings.  If you mean to come onto him you can include some nude-photos of your self and tape them over the Renoir's, but avoid doing the same over the Reuben's.

  2. I bought this book for our library's collection.  There is some nudity, which you'll find in any art book; however, there is one fairly graphic painting included toward the end.  Still, it's only one painting out of 1001 and if he's interested in art, he'll know that it's not a come-on.

It's a great book, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

  3. Not 100% sure.

But I'm guessing there will be.

A lot of art - especially from years back, was pictures of naked people and women breastfeeding their child.

I think seen as your friend is interested in art he will probably know that a lot of art was of pictures of naked paintings.

I went to see the Bayeux tapestry in France, and a lot of sections of the tapestry was intimate pictures of naked people, as was the art gallery that is down the road from the tapestry building. I'd say around half the pictures was of naked people.
