I'm a freshman and I was hoping to be on my high school Track and Field team next year. I was aiming to do the 100m. If you were my coach, what would you reccomend doing to train or work on for next year? I'm a 15 year old female, 5'6".

  1. 50 puships a day, vertical, then walk or preferably run three miles a day, and eat healthly

  2. Just do two things. Get very strong and practice short top speed sprints. Running slower (distance running) makes no sense to improve top speed. The most important thing for speed is how much support force you have at ground contact. The fastest runners don't collapse at the ankle/knee at ground contact. For strength try 'negatives.' Stand on a chair and lower yourself to the floor on one leg while standing on ball of foot. Only do about 8-10 reps. As you get stronger add weight. Continue to run short top speed sprints.
