100mph in 55mph zone in maryland

Ok, so i was driving at 3am, and was doing 100mph in a 55mph zone. I got pulled over by a cop who was driving in front of me, He gave me a ticket for exceeding the speed limit and also a ticket for violation the restriction on my provisional license (out past 12am). This is my first violation, so what should i expect when i go to court?

Should I pray that the cop doesn't show up in court or something? It was a state trooper, so I don't know, does it matter if he shows up or not? What should my option be?

Thanks in advance.

  1. The cop will show up, its part of there work. sorry.

being your first infraction the judge will give your a deal. prehapes a driving class, you will still have to pay some money but you should be able to keep points

  2. you will get suspended and fines , lucky you didnt kill yourself or someone else though ...

i did dumb stuff like that when i was a kid too , im surprised any kids live to be grown up ...

darwin is being a little too harsh , has darwin ever speeded , ? probably

  3. Hello Hades,  There are alot of factors here to the speeding ok. Let me explain. ( 1 ) How old are you. ( 2 ) What does your driving history look like. ( 3 ) What all did the Trooper charge you with. The reason I ask these questions is because your age and driving 100mph will be an issue for the judge. If you have been charged with this type of speeding before,it will be an issue. If you were only charged with speeding, you are very lucky. The Trooper could have charged " Driving to Endanger " which is a serious charge for a sixteen year old. You would lost your license for at least six months and paid a huge fine. Lets hope he don't come back and charge this if he didn't. My advise, get a d**n good attorney! Good Luck !

  4. If the cop did not have his emergency lights on, then he is just as guilty.  However, the cop has many years fo training to drive fast. You do not.  This is why he pulled you over.

OK. 100mph, h**l of a fine but what exactly what written on the ticket?

Points.  at the very least, your insurance will go up like crazy.

If you get enough, you will go back to re-education classes.  The next time you try to renew, you may have to take the written test over again.

when you go to court, the Judge makes a huge difference.  The interaction between the Judge and arresting officer will make the difference between a simple slap on the wrist and thrown under the bus. You're not telling the full story enough for us to determine what to expect.

  5. You only have a provisional license and you're already that reckless and dangerous? You are too irresponsible to have a driver license. Not surprising since your comments here show that you are extremely immature.

Unless the judge is completely incompetent you will lose your license for at least a year and you should probably also do a month or so in jail.

  6. 100mph is a magical number.  If you drive 99mph you get a speeding ticket.  100mph is reckless driving with a mandatory court appearance.  Some of the answers above are very correct in that you may lose your license for a year (or more) and pay some heavy fines.  The Trooper does not have to go to court, but since it is easy overtime he probably will.  If he doesn't, you still have to prove you were not driving that fast, which isyour word against the report.  Troopers tend to have the best traffic reports, since that is all they do.

  7. I'm surprised you weren't arrested on the spot, here in California at least, going above 100 is a felony reckless driving charge.

Just because the cop doesn't show up doesn't mean you'll be let off the hook; but prepared to come professionally dressed, and speak professionally as well.

To be frank, the point of you going to court is damage control. By being respectful and composed, you can try and see if you'll get a lesser punishment by the court; because you can't in any way reasonably expect the charge to be dropped when you were driving like an idiot at nearly twice the speed limit.

You can hope (but don't expect) traffic school to drop the charge, and i wouldn't doubt one bit that your permit is revoked, and you're barred from getting a license or touching a steering wheel for a few years.

  8. With your arrogant attitude, you're lucky you weren't arrested and the car towed.

Your concern is the points... not your violation. You don't care that your inexperience as a driver could have killed you and or an innocent person.

100 MPH isn't speeding.... it is reckless driving.

    You should have been jailed.

As an answer to your question, you'll probable lose your license for a period of time.

    And justifibly so.

  9. Wow, In California you could be held for reckless driving. In some cases, those over 100 mph, that same reckless driving could be considered a misdemeanor. Not only a point, but possibly the removal of your drivers license and/or jail time.

Best bet? Hire an attorney, keep your mouth shut when speaking of it in court or around anyone connected to this issue (aside from attorney) and pray that you're not revoked. (See 22348.[b], below)

By the way, this is for a license holder and not a provisional holder. Check your local DMV.

  10. well don't worry what other people say every one have gone over the speed limit if you are kind of a young driver then they might take away your driving privileges but other than that I say just expect a fine, I'm no officer though

  11. I hope they take away your licence and never give it back.

People like you should not be allowed behind the wheel of a car.

Speed limits are there for a reason.
