1024MB switch vs. 100MB switch?

I have presentley 100MB switch with 100MB Network cards in all my network computers.

If I install 1024MB switch with 100MB Network cards in my network.

Does this configurations improve my network performance. And Comparitevily how my increase in performance.

  1. The speed is determined by your network cards. You currently have a 100 megabit (100 Mbps) switch and 100 megabit (100 Mbps) cards so putting in a gigabit (1000 Mbps) switch will not boost performance unless you use gigabit (1000 Mbps) network cards.


  2. little bit but try to get network card 1GB or 1024MB (its same) that gives greater when you transferring between computers but not from the internet.

  3. As long as the NIC's still are 100 Mbit/s, you shouldn't see much of an improvement, if any...

  4. How many computers?  If they are all still 100mb the traffic (or will still be at 100mb!  If your server has 1000mb nic then some performance increase would be noticed.
