I am looking to buy a new tv and I was wondering what the difference between 1080 and 720 was? I am not familiar with it. I have digital cable and I am looking to buy between a 40" and 42" tv. I also want to know whats a good brand to buy. Thank You.

  1. Just about everything in that size now is 1080p, which is very good; but in fact, for that size TV 720p is also very good.  (In fact I doubt if you could tell the difference.)  There is also very little difference between major brands--Sony, JVC, Sharp, Toshiba, LG, Samsung are just a few.  I think Sony, Sharp and JVC are the best, but many others like LG and Samsung.

  2. 1080 just means that there are more lines of resolution (the amount of pixels on the screen). so the 1080 would look better then the 720.

  3. Most tv brands out there are good for example ilo and vizio are good. and the 1080 and 720 are the picture resolution the higher the better. 1080 p is the highest and best at the moment
