Our TV is 1080i HD and I just purchased an xbox 360. Should I go to the trouble of buying an HDMI cable or just use the component cables? Will there be any noticeable difference? Thanks!

  1. I would jsut use the regular cables, plug them into the HD input on the TV and make sure the swith on the cord is switched to HD mode. I dont notice a big difference with HDMI I wouldnt waste the money.

  2. Just use the component cables. I use them and they look great. (remember they were designed with gaming in mind)

  3. It's got to be HDMI cable or it wont be HD!

  4. HDMI for sure, but get them at amazon.com for $5 instead of $65 at best buy or some other chain.

  5. Use the xbox component cable.  hdmi would only help if the tv was 1080p not 1080i.  iv'e been told this by my smart gamer friends who would be able to explain it better than i have but i do know that i'm right and you should just use the xbox cable i just dont have the technical know how to explain it better.  My husband just confirmed for me i'm right.... i asked him to check his hookup guide for our ps3 and the difference between the cables and he said hdmi is best for 1080p not 1080i there is a difference, so don't waste your money my friend.  My tv is highdefinition and 1080p and we have hdmi cable and there is a huge!!difference so if your tv is highdef and 1080p definately get the hdmi cable for it you'll never go back.  Holy nice on the eyeballs!  You would get digital sound just not digital picture if you used hdmi with your 1080i....you may want to trade your tv for the highdef 1080p  cuz xbox and ps3 rock with those tv's.  Hope i've helped a fellow gamer.
