1080i vs1080p???

Question

what are the differences between 1080i and 1080p?? I don't want to hear scientific explanation such as interlace and progressive.. I want to know what it matters while watching movie..

Without the jargon 1080p is smoother and less jagged than 1080i.In really simple (but not entirely correct) terms 1080i uses 2 pictures of the same scene where as 1080p only uses 1,therefore it's faster for high action movies.

I'll give you an analogy that might seem overly simplified to the technical crowd but at least gives you the idea.

1080i displays show the screen in pieces matched together as best as possible while 1080p displays show the screen in a single unbroken image.  

Imagine you had to move a vase from one room to another but the only opening was a hole in the wall.  1080i is like the hole in the wall being smaller then the vase so you have to break it in half, push the halves through the hole and reassemble the vase with glue on the other side.  1080p is like the hole in the wall being large enough to simply push the entire vase through the wall without breaking it down at all.

The one flaw in my analogy is it exaggerates the noticable difference between 1080i & 1080p.  To the average viewer, it's only a marginal difference and seldom worth the extra cost of having a 1080p display.

all iknow is that 1080p is for fast paced action and i seen the difference in 1080i and 1080p and its pretty much the same with very little differnce i think 1080p is a gimick the picture is just a litlle sharper but nothing that will blow ur mind

1080i is Integrated whereas 1080P is progressive.

It has to do with the refresh rate of the screen. So 1080i has to refresh all the way down and then all the way back up. Whereas 1080p can do the whole screen in one fluid refresh.

You will not really notice this unless you watch a lot of fast pace things. Like sports or heavy action movies.
