Ok gang...Elliott Sader was the correct answer last nite..so let's see for fonight I am once again looking for a driver. Best answer goes to the person who does the most homework (remember to show your work--no blurting out answers--LOL) Here we go.....

Who am I?

I got my big break when tragedy stuck on the Southwest tour

I next appeared on the gong show....wow! But the host wasn't

who I remembered it being back in the 70's????

So my infamous seat cover and I went to NASCAR.

I had success in the Truck series and became a darling

with my team...so much so I passed an elder member to get

a Cup ride which made everyone kinda upset. They all said I

should have went to Busch G.N. series first.

My first CUP start was in September, boy where my team

mates GREEN with envy as Jeff Hammond was my crew chief.

My first full season was very interesting....another driver and I

COULDN'T SEEM to keep out of each other's way...it was

like I was drawn to him like a bulls eye. But we made up????

I almost beat that Pontiac to the line, but they'll all remember

him in the history books not me for that day.

My loose wheel nearly cost me my season but my team

wouldn't give up and we took home a big gold phone.

I soon gained another honor as at the time being 1 of only

18 to win in every top level of NASCAR.

In 2006 a famous magazine said Barry Bonds/T.O./AND ME all

had something in common....what was it?

My current team and I will always love Bristol...it kinda comes

with the car # as a pre-requisite.

I really enjoy snow.....do you know why?

All in all my sponsor loves me but hate my references

to their competitor....but I can't change what I can't change.

WHO AM I??????

  1. Kurt Busch

  2. Kurt Busch the driver of the #2 Miller Lite Dodge, I know he loves bristol did some pretty cool snow angels there one time. Oh yes, he and Spencer have made up.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  3. chris trickle was wounded in a mysterious shooting leaving a spot open in the southwest series, and kurt busch stepped in. trickle died a year later. kurt was never tied to the crime...

    ;-)

the gong show was the jack roush gong show, and from that he got a shot in the truck series. he finished second in the points, and jumped right over greg biffle (and the busch series) into cup. he replaced chad little in the #97 john deere ford in 2000 with hammond as his crew chief. http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2000/97pho...

he and jimmy spencer were always drawn to each other, even in 2002 when jimmy drove the chip ganassi #41 target car... but they have since supposedly "made up" and even mentioned on "victory lane" after his win this year that they had had dinner together that week.

and he didn't beat ricky cravens to the line at darlington in 2003, but it was a helluva battle. (i have a great special edition set of 1:64 cars with both cars at the finish line. they are not locked together and craven's car is farther ahead in the box than they were on the track, but it's still cool).

then at homestead in 2004, he had a loose wheel and it fell off and onto the track as he was coming in under green, which brought out the caution (i still wonder how they rigged that one ;-) he also had other pit problems that day but kept fighting back from them to finish high enough to beat jimmie johnson for the championship. he took home the first nextel cup that day.

and yes, finally he entered and won his first busch series race in 2006, making him one of 18 that had won in all three series - a list that includes not only his brother kyle, but jimmy spencer as well...

and in 2006, he was named the third most hated athlete by GQ magazine, behind bonds and terrell owens.

his #2 miller lite car were previously driven by rusty wallace, who has nine wins at bristol, compared to kurt's five so far. and last year he got out after winning and made snow angels on the ground after winning in bristol back in march, 2006.

his sponsor is miller lite, i've never heard him mention bud, except when he wins the bud pole award (or now the coors light award).

(did i miss any references there - an additional tough clue could have referred to a question of mine a few days ago about when the busch brothers first crashed into each other - during a five lap go-kart race called the castle rock court 500 with 14 year old kurt and his 7 year old little brother, who ran him over on the final turn of the final lap and knocked off his carburetor to win the race. he showed such promise so young...)

    ;-)

  4. The Gong show: Jack Roush's driver development program

His car was sponsored by John Deere back then. (Green)

He and Jimmy Spencer used to go at it... but the last encounter, it was rather 'Sirius'.

He nearly lost the title in 2004 while heading to a pit stop.. the wheel came rolling off.. but he saved it.

They all have.. a temper? lol

Rusty Wallace was very successful at Bristol over his career. Kurt has won a few as well...

    That's all.

    So yeah, Kurt Busch.

  5. D'oh... Too slow!!! Kurt Busch.
