hi, my baby girl , 11 months refuses solids. i weaned her about 2 weeks ago and her formula is all she wants. she will eat a lttle of what I'm eating though, toast etc. just hardly any baby food. i took her to the doc , but he said shes fine. the thing is i feel like this all started when i weaned her, but I'm not sure. im really worried about her loosing weight, she hasnt lost any yet though. anybody gone through this? what are some things i can cook that she will eat?

also another thing she drinks formula out of a bottle . i read that i could start giving her whole milk. when and with what? sippy cup like her juice? will she get confused with milk out of a sippy cup and formula in a bottle?

i hope everybody understands this.

thanks in advance for all ur help and advice

  1. Kids will go through periods of time where they don't eat anything at all, and the next day they will eat you out of house and home.  It's normal.  My kids did that and my grand kids do that.  Don't worry.  When she gets hungry, she will eat.

  2. its not uncommon for babies to not like the baby food. the consistency is just not right. i would put all her liquids in tippy cups, get her weaned from the bottle. whole milk at this stage is fine unless the doc says not to. if she still wants the formula, mix some milk into the formula and slowly ease out the formula til she is drinking just milk may take a month but that is ok. if she is eating toast and that sort, she is eating solids, she wants what you have. it's natural.  french fries are good just take off the hard ends and let her suck or chew on that, get her used to chewing. tiny finger foods, hot dogs, crackers, small bite size stuff she can handle herself and encourage her to try even with fingers, mashed taters, stuff from your plate, when my 16 year old was that size i would take small portions off my plate in front of her to show her it was the same stuff and sometimes she would want my plate instead lol. enjoy the baby. what a blessing!!!! what a beauty !!

  3. try eating dinner the same time as your baby, so she can see that you are eating your dinner, and that she should too.

Good foods to cook for your baby are things like cooked vegetables, mashed. Mashed potato or mashed sweet potato. Other starchy foods such as pasta, cereal and rice as they will provide lots of energy. Cheese and yogurt are a great source of calcium for your baby along with cooked dishes such as cauliflower cheese.Fresh fruit such as bananas and pears cut up into easy to hold pieces are good. Your baby will enjoy food if its more colorful, as it will be more interesting to look at. Also, oily fish such as salmon and tuna are great for brain and visual development of babies.

I'm studying childcare at college, and we have done units on what to feed a baby at each stage of their development, and foods to big time avoid are shell fish, honey, nuts, lightly cooked egg and added salt.

Cows milk can be given to her in cereals, yogurts and cheeses, and they should be encouraged to drink from a cup as soon as possible. Formula milk can be given to her in a beaker or a cup...the easiest transition between bottle and beaker is to use a beaker with a long spout so there is less confusion.

A great webiste that i have used in college and what my mum uses with my baby brother and sister is http://www.annabelkarmel.com/

    Hoep this helped :)

  4. don't give her milk just yet, wait 3-4 months.

if she doesn't want to eat don't force her. when you eat somth and  she wants some just give it to her. in time she'll get used to the taste of food and will want more.

it's ok if she only drinks formula, it means it's enough for her. she wont loose weight.

my 15month old son still won't eat.just some yogurt and fries and rice.i can't get him to eat anything else. but i still breastfeed him.

stop worrying and trust yourself in beeing a good mom

  5. Ian went through a period where he would refuse baby food and only wanted what we ate or breast milk so in addition to his breast milk we started giving him baby safe finger foods...like veggies out of the crock pot and things...he's had a healthy appetite since.

  6. AT 11 months some toddlers are ready for weaning.  She is probably ready for some soft foods such as noodles and cooked veggies.  No hot dogs or grapes unless you cut them up into small pieces.  She will eat when she is hungry.  Don't rely on sippy cups too long and don't give them to her before bed.  Make sure you clean her teeth before she goes to sleep and then only water at night.  Does she really need the bottle for nourishment or are giving it to her to quiet her?

  7. Try Milk with a bottle. Go to the Doctor to make sure she is ok. Cute baby by the way. God bless her.

  8. um try new foods if that does not work take her to a doc
