11 youngsters who can light up the Premier League – Part 3
We are nearly there now and it is time to pick out the strike duo upfront. We have selected an experienced but young goalkeeper, four strong and attacking defenders and pretty skilful and stylish looking midfield.
The team we have come up with so far looks like this; Manuel Neuer (Goal Keeper), Davide Santon (Right Back), David Luiz (Centre Back), Fabio Coentrao (Left Back), Marko Marin (Left Wing), Alexis Sanchez (Right Wing), Javi Martinez
(Central Midfielder), Eden Hazard (Attacking Midfielder).
Now we look at the two front men.
Centre Forward: Romelu Lukaku - 17 (Anderlecht)
Well, he looks like a man, but actually, he is a boy. Standing at 6ft 2in at a tender age of 17, he is still growing. Along with his fellow citizen Eden hazard, Lukaku is another young Belgian who is making headlines for all the
right reasons. Lukaku who idolises Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been in sensational form of late.
He is similar to Drogba in many ways; he is strong, quick and two footed. In addition, most important of all, he too can spin and shoot with his back at the goal, which is a unique skill that the Chelsea man possesses.
Lukaku is destined for big things, that are for sure, but at only 17, his father has suggested that he will not be leaving Anderlecht until he is 18, which will be summer 2011. There will be a huge transfer scramble for the youngster
with Chelsea looking like his likeliest destination.
Possible Destinations: Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City
Likelihood of his arrival: 7/10
Centre Forward: Neymar da Silva – 18 (Santos)
It came as no surprise when Chelsea tried to sign the young Brazilian from his native land in the summer. However, the young prodigy decided to stay for another year. He has been compared to the great Ronaldo and although they
have contrasting styles, Neymar’s end- product is usually the same.
At only 18, the young striker has a long road ahead of him and with 2 full international caps already under his belt; Neymar could well be the next super star of the Premier League. He has shown his admiration for Italian giants
Juventus, but has also spoken about his love for Liverpool.
Possible Destinations: Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur
Likelihood of his arrival: 6/10
Now, that we have completed our team of top 11 players who can light up the Premier League, we look at some reasonably good players for our bench.
Here are some other youngsters who deserve to be mentioned.
Goal Keeper – David de Gea – 20 (Atletico Madrid)
A tall and athletic goalkeeper who is expected to take over from Iker Casillas once he decides to hang up his boots.
Possible Destinations: Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur
Likelihood of his arrival: 5/10
Defender: Holger Badstuber – 21 (Bayern Munich)
A German International, Badstuber has all the makings of a top class defender. At only 21, he is a regular in his National team’s starting eleven.
Possible Destinations: Liverpool, Chelsea
Likelihood of his arrival: 4/10
Winger: Andre Ayew – 20 (Marseille)
One of the highly rated young Ghanaians, Ayew was part of the Ghana side that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009. He was also part of the impressive Ghana campaign in South Africa last summer.
Possible Destinations: Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton
Likelihood of his arrival: 6/10
Striker: Bojan Krkic – 20 (Barcelona)
He came to the scene some 3 years ago, but has since failed to live up to the hype surrounding him. The competition at Barca might just be too much for the youngster, but he has shown enough to suggest that he can still score goals
at the highest level.
Possible Destinations: Chelsea, Tottenham Hotpsur
