  1. Live messenger uses what are known as Microsoft Passport Network or Windows Live IDs, they can be made of any valid e-mail address.

When signing up for one your are asked,

Do you have an e-mail address?:

    Yes, use my e-mail address

No, sign me up for a free MSN Hotmail e-mail address

So it is possible for this to be a legitimate email address.

However, if you do not know this person then I would advise against allowing them on your list.

  2. I was about to go to that 1@1000.com but my computer said it was a bad website so yea its spam fix your computer fast

  3. i think....maybe!~

just ignore it and u'll be save =)

  4. Short answer, it's spam.

Long answer, live messenger requires a microsoft signup etc, but allows you to use services other than hotmail to register an account.

There are three things that services like live messenger can use to prevent spammers from getting through, but they don't always work

One is called "regular expressions", and basically says "if this guy's address looks fake, don't allow it"

Another is to actually send an e-mail to you and require you to read it and click it. But sometimes people really own the spam address, or else can redirect it to an address they do own.

The last is something called a "capcha". You ever see a picture and then it asking you to type in the letters and numbers in the picture? That's how a web page can tell you are a human being and not a computer.

There are ways around all three of these, but with a site like live.com, it's not likely that any of that happened.

What probably happened with you, is that the e-mail header basically lied to you. E-mail works a lot like regular mail; while most computer programs automatically put the correct return address on the envelope (or "e-mail header") for you, you CAN fill out the envelope yourself, and put down any return address in the world on there.

It doesn't take a "hacker" to do this; there's a lot of free programs that will let you edit e-mail headers before they get sent out.

Usually it's spammers that do this kind of thing.

  5. Its a bogus email address. period.

  6. its not possible to have a Live Messenger like that.. so yeah it definitely is a hacker.. just report him/her and the account will be deleted i think
