  2. there's a website: http://www.listsofbests.com/lists/home/b...

that lists the winners of the pulitzer, hugo, newberry medal winners.  It's a good place to start.

after that it's all subjective to your tastes as a reader.

  3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

    B&N Classics

  4. Ask your teacher for his/her suggestions.  They did have to study literature to become English teachers.  ;)

Barring that, I would just drop by your local bookstore and read the "classics" that are always being reprinted.  The advantage is that they usually have a ton of notes/guides printed to help you through difficult parts as well as being genuinely good books.

Some of my favorite books in high school were The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451.  See what genres you like and then go from there.

    Good luck.

  5. I'm in an 11th grader in honors English too.

Try The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

                                            Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

                                             Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hossieni

                                             Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

                                             Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

Those are all great classics that are worth the read, and great for essays. Good luck.
