  1. Well ill break it down like this, a 18 inch sub is mostly for people that are trying to get nothing but bass,  most people in the DB drags and comps will go to that extreme measure to create stupid bass, now a 15 can be good for all of those, 15 give out deeper bass, it picks up the low tones with lonnngggg bass. It can handle lower dcbs and the longer notes and the hard hits

A 12 is better for the shorter bass, it dosent hold on to the bass as well, they dont pick up the lower tones like a 15, 12 are more a punchy bass, the quick hard hits, thats pretty much what they handle,

If you want good low bass, long hits found in r & b, rap, hip hop, freestyle,  u need to go with a 15, if you want the quick bass, found in alternative and most rock, go with a 12.

    hope this helps

  2. The 12" will be most versatile for the variety of music you listed... but it also greatly depends on on your enclosure type and the amount of space you have.

  3. The 12's in a sealed enclosure will provide the most accurate bass.  A ported enclosure will make it more boomy as will a larger sub.  Yes, the larger subs can also generally respond to lower frequencies, but the majority of frequencies in music can be hit with  a12... unless you plan to do some movies with sub 30hz frequencies then you'll be fine.  For top notch, top quality bass, get you 3 8" Focal Utopia Be 21 WX's at $900.00 each or you could get something a bit more reasonable like a couple of 10" Rainbow Vanadiums at $500.00ea.  These are not for bass heads though... they are for those that are into very high fidelity and accuracy.

  4. any of them are great it just depends on where or what your putting them in remember for a 12 inch speaker you need at least a cubic foot of box each and of course larger for larger speakers i have seen 12 inch out perform 15 and 18 inch if the box is built and sealed right
