Question:

12 Hour Car Trip...Tips?

So I’m going on a trip to Canada, and I’m driving…well, I probably won’t drive. My mom, aunt, sister, brother, and little cousin are all going. My mom will do most of the driving, and it’s about a twelve hour trip.

The thing is, my little cousin tends to get sick when she’s been in the car for a while, so any ideas on how to prevent that?

Also, my brother’s a sleeper and whenever he’s awake, he’ll play with his portable PS, but my little cousin isn’t. She’s around 6 or 7, and I’ll probably have to keep her entertained. We have a DVD player. Any movie suggestions? Other suggestions?

Any other tips?

  1. maybe try giving her some childrens gravol before u go. that may make her sleep for a while or at least not make her feel as car sick. u may have to make some pit stops along the way if she get feeling really sick and let her walk around or do what she needs or wants to do. if she is not doing anything when she is awake i have heard that staring at the horizon will work because its the only thing that doesn't move around a lot. bring along some movies that she likes or ones that every one likes.

what we used to do was we played a game where u have to find the letters of the alphabet in order one at a on bill boards or road signs even licence plates. there are lots of board games (or even kids games) that are magnetized that u can bring a long.

  2. not sure about the sickness

but as far as keeping the little one entertained...try coloring books

also, there are portable board games you to can play together...i found them at kbtoys.  sorry, yahtee, clue, and guess who....i found them all in "portable car trip form"  why not ask her what movies she likes as to guarantee she will b entertained in that department

  3. When you have a 12 hour trip and some one gets sick after awhile stop somewhere and grab a bite to eat, get fresh air, and don't have the car packed with billions of thing up front! After that you could get at a store road trip games. My sister and i used to play that all the time! If you don't feel like getting that you could play the ABC's game... you have to find a word outside the car that begins with an A then a B and so on, each time someone finds a word that begins with that letter its the next persons turn. It is a lot of fun!

Also, play the picnics game the first person starts of with the letter A and they say "I went on a picnic and i brought a ....."(Something the begins with an a) the next person has to remember what they said and carry on with a B, same with the next person. It gets harder but funner to play!!!!!

  4. give them candy to suck on, like lollipops and mints are really good. i also get motion sickness and lollipops and mints and lifesavers, all that stuff really help me. also water and having the windows down. make sure they dont read in the car or draw, that gets people sick usually.

  5. wow! cool you going to canada i live by canada im in detroit. but anyway you should probably  get some dvd's like spongebob, dora the explorer etc., or bring some books or buy some you know like little disney books about princesses, or even bring some little barbie dolls that should keep her entertained. it works for my lil sister.

  6. The one that gets car sick should be allowed to ride in the front seat.  Refrain from reading, or writing while the car is moving.  Keep the car cool either with A/C or windows down, fresh air is of the most importance.  Stopping regularly will help eith the sickness as well.  If one is prone to car sickness it is best that they do not eat a big meal at the time.  Sleeping may keep the car sickness at a minimum as well

  7. bring the movie finding nemo omg.

i haven't found one kid that didn't like that movie.

also, you should bring the move cat's don't dance.

ahaha, it's really old, but i used to love that movie.

and to entertain her, if you have an ipod, let her listen to it in one ear, or you can bring a coloring book and some crayons.

    hope i helped :)
