can anyone give a description of the jury deliberation process as protrayed in the play or how this process results in a fair trail?

  1. At the beginning of the deliberation, 11 jurors vote guilty and only one not guilty. He explains why he has doubts about the accused's guilt, and gradually he manages to persuade the other jurors to change their vote, one by one.  The process results in a fair trial because the jury's vote must be unanimous, so they had to give the lone holdout a chance to explain himself - and by doing so he saved an innocent man's life.

The play revolves around reasonable doubt when deciding one's guilt or innocence.  The lone juror establishes his doubt and thus unspirals other doubts within other jurors.  Other points made are the biases that trouble a juror when deciding on one's innocence or guilt (e.g. prejudice, inability to make a decision, doesn't want to serve).
