I've thought of flying but i've been wanting to take a road trip lately. I've been on 15+ hour trips before but i've always had at least one other person with me. I want to be able to drive myself when I get there, plus see some open road on the way.

  1. - take a bunch of CDs, preferrably you have a CD changer & random feature

    - snacks (chips, a cooler with drinks & straws, sandwiches) for stops along the way

    - let a close friend/relative know your route (cell phone, to call in for status updates)

    - just go!

  2. Depends on where you're going!

My husband and I dated long-distance for 3.5 years and would regularly drive 8 hours alone to see each other.  And his parents would sometimes drive 11.5 hours alone to see their parents.

If you do decide to go, I'd leave early in the morning when the sun is first rising.  That way you can drive while it's mostly daylight and it won't drag on so much.  Get some audio books, snacks and COFFEE!  Hope you have cruise control!  :)

  3. YES.  make sure your car's in good working order, your AAA card is updated and present, your cellphone charged and your car stocked with audio books, cds and snacks..

nothing like the open road for clearing the head.  I love solo road trips!  I also stop when it gets dark, because I'm a wimp.

  4. Quit contemplating,you wanna go.
