12 year old Bulldog needs healthy dog food options

Question

I have had my bulldog for 12 years and he has recently developed heart issues. He is currently on heart medicine and lasix. The vet gave sold us some H&D food but it was $50 for a 20 lb bag and the canned food was about $40 for 12 cans. I cannot afford to continue feeding him food that is this expensive. Does anyone know any health alternatives I can buy online or at pet shops or retail stores? He needs a low-to-no sodium diet.

I remember reading something recently about Homemade Recipes for dog food.  Checkout Pet Shop Zone, online. They have a bunch of blog entries and articles that will tell you how to make you own food, and where to cheaply buy what you need.
