I'm 24, & vegan since 12. I went vegetarian at 10, & hated fish growing up, so haven't had that since 8.

Problems started 4 years ago. In 6 months, I have found out I am celiac, wiping out those whole grains, allergic to soy, corn, rice, peanuts, & true nuts. I also lost ability to digest most nightshades & legumes. I desperately tried to find better protein powders, but all are soy, or rice, or pea, or some combination I am allergic to. Enzymes don't help.

That has left me with very little for protein choices.

Last week I learned I have Type II Diabetes, wiping out any fruits with too high glycemic content.

My red blood cell counts are down, I'm depressed & losing weight & hair. I have constant anxiety, migraines, & fever, & BLACKOUTS.

I have seen 17 nutritionists, 12 of them vegan, with no help. 1000's of $

I'm killing myself for a cause of animal rights!

Has anyone else had to MEDICALLY give up veganism, not out of "not caring?" I'm so sad. This has been my life for so long

  1. My Dad has had similar troubles and he seems do be ok now since he changed what foods he eats together.  I would be glad to get the two of you together through e-mail if you are interested, he has a wealth of info on healthful eating.  Look at my profile and you can contact me by email there.  Best of luck to you  :)

  2. have you though about using nutritional yeast flakes, hemp powder.

  3. Search for a 100% whey protein powder such as vitaminshoppe.com's Designer Whey.  You didn't mention an allergy to milk, so I assume you can have it.  Drinking/ eating a milk derived product will be easier on your conscience as a vegan than eating meats.

  4. Eat meat or die. That is what your own body is telling you. Listen, and good luck.

  5. A win-win situation...

Let say after switch back to carnivorous diet your condition become worst and u died. Would u will confess openly in Y!A the danger of meat? No, u will never. If yes, then go ahead.

You lie everything bad abt veganism, but never mentined anything abt your Dr's nutritional opinion. You troll.

  6. Neither celiac disease nor diabetes is a joke, and the two together are a serious burden on your body, requiring careful, skilful medical supervision and careful, educated self-care.

Given the range of your allergies and other dietary no-nos imposed by your conditions, you should exploit the widest range of foods still available to you.

Some people are willing to die for a principle, but I don't see that you stand to gain much by sticking to self-imposed (as contrasted to disease-imposed) dietary restrictions.

  7. With the right combination of vegetables that you aren't allergic to you could get the necessary ammino acids. avocados have protein in them. If you are absolutely DESPERATE for help I strongly recommend NAET. It stands for nambudripad's allergy elimination technique. Basically, nambudripad (indian woman) was in accupunture school and she developed a treatment that was a  "non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to eliminate allergies of all types and intensities using a blend of selective energy balancing, testing and treatment procedures from acupuncture/acupressure, allopathy, chiropractic, nutritional, and kinesiological disciplines of medicine." Nambudripad started out with so many allergies that all she could eat was rice, and she developed her technique by testing on herself first and eliminating her own allergies. I go to an NAET specialist and all of my treatments have been successful. They usually do them in a specific order, but since you have such specific allergies that are ruining your life you could discuss whether or not you could go ahead and do those first.

  8. Try red star nutritional yeast. It has b12 in it and a lot of protein. Dark leafy greens have protein. Maybe lay of the grains and cooked starches. Goji berries have a lot of protein, but may be too much sugar for you. Flax seeds are a complete protein. Hope this helps.

  9. Cage free eggs and any cruelty free dairy products, nutritional yeast, leafy greens, seeds. Have you tried quinoa?

It's definitely not worth dying for, especially with the growing availabiliyt of cruelty free eggs and dairy.

    Good luck to you.

  10. Well, if you're stuck, you're stuck. Buy local, pasture-raised, organic when you can. You can try to volunteer or donate to causes that you support (regarding animal welfare) to try and "counteract" the change in your eating habits. Good luck.
