1200 watt sony amp hooked up but not working?

I just bought a 1200 watt sony amp to replace my jensen 420 watt...upgrade! but i got everyhting hooked up the way its sopposed too and the light the amp turn on but the subs never turn on. There are lights on the subs that are hooked into the amp too and they turn on, but no sound comes out of the subs What should i do?

  1. i have a 1100 watt sony amp and i love it. check the gain, sony amps have both the gain and the frequancy set as far down as possiably when they ship em.

  3. check your ground scrap the metal then  rescrew it then if still no sound check the rcas  if in doubt run sum new rcas from the radio to the amp be4 hiding them  a custumer had same problem yesterday

  4. Well, the way you describe it, the problem may be with the crossover on your amp.  If the crossover is set too low ( as many out-of-box amps are), it chops off any frequency above a certain level, and basically weeds out and doesn't send any signal above that set frequency to the subs.  Set the crossover to around 200Hz, and see if it works.
