Question:

13 Weeks , Painless Bleeding And Passing Small Clots?

I posted two previous questions but things have now changed again.

I went to A&E this morning with bright red bleeding, the bleeding has almost completely stopped it is more brown than red now but when i pass urine there are sometimes clots in the toilet afterwards ( I know its discusting didn't know how else to put it) I have an ultrasound tomorrow morning, as i said before i know you cannot diagnose anything but i would like to know what this could be and any stories if a similar thing has happened to you.

I am 13 weeks. I have no pains in my stomach and only the usual backache that i always have. At A&E they said my cervix was closed, does this mean that the bleed this morning was not coming from my baby?

  1. awww, i feel for you I really do. it could be either way though! bleeding is never good in pregnancy but it does happen and sometimes it is just fine. The fact that you say brown blood tells me its old blood which if your cervix is closed is a good sign! BUT please dont get your hopes up, no one can answer accurately as you really need an ultra sound but brown blood is good IF YOUR CERVIX IS CLOSED but theres nothing to say it hasnt opened since so trea with caution! good luck

  2. Your ultrasound will tell you all you need to know.

Whatever the cause of the bleed, all you can do is get rest and stop worrying.  Stress and worry are the worst ingredients for a healthy pregnancy.

Many women have bled, especially in the early weeks; that's how come, very occasionally, a woman has a baby without realising she was pregnant (like my sister-in-law!).

  3. I would go and see a Doctor :).

  4. This sounds like it could be very serious, what did your doctor tell you?

  5. I had a bleed at 26 weeks - they told me that the inside of your cervix is softer than the outside (like your lips for example) and when you are pregnant some of the 'soft' bit comes onto the v****a side of the cervix.

I can't possibly say that this is what is happening to you as you well know. I didn't have an ultrasound - just listened to the heartbeat and all was well but it was very scary.

I had just had s*x before this happened.

  6. i know its hard to say but dont worry too much they would not have sent you home if they thought it was serious.  wait until tommorow your scan will tell you if the baby is fine. foetus's are very robust and can put up with a lot.  however if your pain gets worse or your bleeding heavy again dont think your bothering them and get straight back down the hospital they are there to reasurre you x

hope everything goes well dont stress too much your baby needs you to be calm x

  7. It is definitely a good thing that your cervix is closed.

Try to relax (I know it is very difficult), but the ultrasound will answer all your questions.

    Good luck to you.  x
