Question:

13 and really depressed. Help?

I'm always depressed. I can't help it, it's ridiculous. I have like one friend.

And keeping cutting myself is risky, because my mom works with dyfus, which is the place that is soppose to send you through therapy because of those things.

I'm so bored.

What can I do to take my mind off of things?

  1. You are 13 and your hormones are all over the place. It is normal to go through these difficult times so if you could please just accept that & try to "ride the storm" so to speak. This part of your maturing will not last long.

    It might help to make some plans in your head - for your next academic year, your future, the career you want to aim for etc. It would be very useful if you could find diversionary things to do as well, like reading, games, computer and other light stuff.

    Perhaps you could consider some voluntary work somewhere -  where you could contribute to others and make their lives better instead of focusing on the difficulties you feel within yourself.

    Please try to do anything positive rather than negative. Cutting is negative - it doesn't make anyone feel better cos they do it more and it still doesn't work so why add to the scars? (both mental & physical).

I'm 14, I have alot of friends who cut and its a terrible, horrible thing to do to your body! if you need new friends all you need is to be brave! get out there and try talking to new people! its hard at first but even a little bit of change everyday can stop you feeling bored and destructive! and if this isn't working just try a new hobby? anything is better than self harm!

  4. You can exercise to make endorphins and you can take Sam e which is an over the counter formula ( best is Jarrow made in Italy) which does the same for your brain.  Endorphins are what make us happy.

    i also can recommend an online game where you can better people and chat. Its called maplestory, you can download it at Nexon.com or maplestory.com.

    Also ask your mom for a pet. I would say a dog for companionship.

    Also listen to songs.

    Or you can just draw to get your mind off of things.
