13 months and not standing?

Question

My son is still not standing at 13 months. One doctor says it is a weight issue, because he is on the heavy side, another says he is lazy.

I am frustrated with that diagnosis because I try to encourage him to his feet, but his foot seems to go over on his ankle and I think this is the reason he is reluctant to stand.

Are there any parents out there that have had similar issues? Did anyone have a doctor recommend special shoes or a brace to correct their foot?

I agree, I would see an orthopedic doctor and see what he says. Im sure its nothing and since you said your daughter didnt start walking till she was 16 months old I wouldnt worry to much. Once they start walking tho, your chasing them all the time. Im sure you already knew that. Good luck and I hope all is well with your son! :)

It might be worth seeing an orthopedic doc to get his feet looked at. That may be the cause, or he may not yet have to muscle control needed. Otherwise try not to worry. When he gets frustrated with crawling he will try to stand. One boy I used to babysit was a total chunk, adorable but he didn't walk til almost 18 mos. Once they start walking you will be running to keep up..lol
