13 volleyball athletes make it to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honour Roll – Volleyball news
Following the successful completion ‘2011-2012’ academic year, the Conference USA (C-USA) disclosed the list of student athletes, who settled for the C-USA Commissioner’s Honour Roll.
According to the set criteria of C-USA, the Student-athletes who maintained a balanced athletic success with academic excellence clawed their way to the Commissioner's Honour Roll.
Furthermore, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better was also mandatory for the student athletes to be recognised for the Commissioner’s Honour.
This time, a record number of student-athletes made it to the C-USA Commissioner's Honour Roll. A total of 2,433 were added to the list, which includes 124 Southern Mississippi students. Among players from other sports, thirteen volleyball players also earned
the recognition. The official announcement about the Honour Role was disclosed by C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky on Tuesday, March 27.
There has been a continuous increase in C-USA Commissioner's Honour Roll recipients over the past few years, which is an evidence of hard work by the schools. The students are encouraged to excel in both athletics and academics.
The category of women's soccer topped the list with 21 recipients, while football came second with 16 players. Volleyball and Baseball had 13 individuals apiece. Women's track & field/cross country followed up with 11 players. Likewise, players from golf,
basketball, softball, and tennis were also featured on the list of honourees.
The list of winners in the volleyball category included Katie Steelman of Panama City Beach, Florida, Gulf Breeze, Florida’s Jasmine Crowell, , Amelia Hendrickson of Belle Chasse, Los Angeles, Ashley Mell (Yorba Linda, California), Sarah Bowden (Sioux City,
Iowa), Kristen Fleming (Columbus, Ga.), Halie Ecker (Moline, Ill.), Lisa Knecht (Metairie, Los Angeles),  Alexandra Pfefferle (New Orleans, (Belle Chasse, Los Angeles), Elizabeth Rinaudo (Mandeville, La.), Emily Sears (Ashburn, Va.), Lauren Sears (Ashburn,
Va.), Kelsea Seymour  of Long Beach, California.
All the players on the list made a wonderful progress in their academics and sports. Each one of them somehow contributed to the overall success of their volleyball programme. The Conference USA is always keen on promoting sports but also urge the student
athletes to get good grades.
