Is running the mile in 7 min and 20 seconds all right for a 13 year old girl? I haven't timed a lot f the runs i have done, but that is the fastest i've timed so far. I've decided that i would run about evey day to get better, but do you think i'm at a good start?

  1. That's decent time. It's passing :D my time for miles is 6:52 seconds

  2. That's good but if you want to run competivly it needs improvement.

  3. im 13 to and i ran a 6 min 7 sec. mile. i was at cross country but on the track i ran a 6min 40 sec mile...most of the gurls n my class ran it slower than u. i would say if u usually dont run thats pretty good. if u want to become a runner i would say u need a little practice...keep up the good work!!!

  4. like the others say it is a good start. When I was you age I was running sub 6 minutes in the mile. But if you start running everyday you will start to see your time drop.

Don't switch your shoes everyday. Your body will get used to running in one pair of shoes, and that is good. The only time you should switch shoes is if they get wet or if they are just getting to old to use. If you would like to help prevent shin splints than run on softer surfaces when ever possible and take 1 day off a week to give you body a break.

Also don't increase your mileage to fast to soon. Good luck

  5. That time is a good start but Frankly, has a lot of romm for improvement. You will see this improvement if you do in fact run every day, as you mentioned.

  6. thats good. i mean you could prolly do better but thats a good starting time. I run a 6:48 and im 13

  7. that's a good start.

running 2 miles in sub-16 minutes is a good pace.

if you're training for cross country you'll want to drop your time by about a minute.

keep training, and remember to switch your running shoes everyday to keep from getting shin splints and sore feet.

  8. That is OK. But if your 13 then you should be running a little faster. Try running just a kilomater as fast as you can to get your legs used to running fast. Then run two kilometres as fast as you can, and your legs will be really used to it. So when you run a mile you will be able to run faster.

Good luck and pick up the speed a bit.

  9. Thats a great start. Keep working at it!!
