I'm 13 and since I woke up and even last night what I think is my colon has been hurting. It hurts really bad right under my rib cage and between my hip bone. for me that is about two fingers wide. Yes I have my period I have had it for over a year. I am not on it though so it's not like cramps or anything. What should I do? The pain varies from severe to where I don't want to get up because it hurts too bad to where it's fine to get up but I still feel the pain.

  1. ok well your colon is not under your ribs that would be your stomach or liver, so they might be having problems too. Ok well first of all are you going to the toilet enough? (pooing) because if not you might be constipated and that usually is the main corse of colon pain. If its up to the stomach or liver then check what you are eating and add lots of fruit and vegetables to your diet (nuts, granes and berries help too). If it really is your colon start drinking lots of water (8 glasses a day around) and stop eating any white bread, cookies or fatty foods. The glog you up. Anyway I'm not a doctor but I've been through stuff like this before and my best advise would be to see a doctor, no matter how imparasing it maybe is it really worth the pain?

  2. I'm afraid you're going to have to tell your parents and your doctor about this situation.  There honestly isn't any alternative.  This could be a serious problem and you may want to get it checked out as soon as possible.  Perhaps you shouldn't worry about what other people think and do it for the sake of your well being.

  3. It could be a number of things, ranging from irritating to life threatening.

It sounds like gall bladder problems, although you are pretty young for that.

There really is no way to tell except to see a doctor.

You may be able to rule some out and possibly eliminate it by eliminating milk, chocolate, spicy foods, hard-to-digest foods from your diet. Basically, eat a soft bland diet. I hope you like chicken soup and bread. You can slowly add in more things.

You really are going to have to tell your parents, and most likely see a doctor. Certainly if it's not gone in a couple of days, or if it gets worse.
