13 years old???????????????

Question

I am 13 years old, and I really want a job. I know I am kind of young, I do some babysitting and dog sitting, but is there a place that hires 13 year olds? Thanks.

I know what you mean. Ive been planning to get a job for a long time. It really depends on what your state is. Like for me, New York, 14 is the minimum age. But I started working at 13. You can do work when school is out as long as it does not involve dangerous equipment,machinery etc.

Babysitting and a paper route can be hard to get, but if you do manage to get one of these jobs make sure you are responsible.

Well that's good to start with. As far as I know of you have to be 14 to get a job.

Well that's how it is in some states anyways. So just stick with what you are doing for one more year and then go around find places that will hire you at 14.

but you could probably find a bus-boy job

or some retirement homes hire you at that age.

Look for little neighboor hood stores you know?

Well some small grocery stores hire at 13. But only for little jobs. If there's a huge grocery store near you, don't try to apply there. Try a little fruit store or something. Hope this helps!

You could definitely get a summer job at a day camp, being a counselor. Some of those pay well. Or...what do you like to do? When I was 13, I was an umpire for my local baseball league. You're not young, I'm sure you can find a job. Look for what you like to do. No point in getting a job you hate, if you're only 13.

for babysitting and dogsitting etc just put up fliers on telephone poles and things

like an advertisement with the number strips at the bottom

ask your parents for help

Florists can sometimes use help on phones.

See if you can help local moms clean up or watch their kids while they run errands.

if you live near any farms, you can get jobs mucking out stalls or washing buckets, helping at feeding time, etc. that's pretty much the only job i can think of that hasn't already been mentioned

i'm pretty sure that you must be 14 to be hired by a store, but i know where i live there are small boutiques that don't really have an age requirement for employees. you could try asking about jobs at small stores instead of larger stores that require you to be at least 14.
