13th b-day party help....?

Question

Um... I just turned 13 on August 3. I've been really busy during August and i don't know if i should even make a party, because September would be the only time i could make it. Anyways, Do you think it would be a good idea to do it in September even though my birthday was on August 3? How many weeks in advance should i send the invitations? Should we hire a DJ? What games would be good? What about food? How should i decorate my backyard to make it look like Hawaii? (i have a REALLY big backyard, so I'm willing to use that space, rather then inside) What food would be good with this theme? What about music and fun stuff?

Please answer all these questions everyone! I want this party to be BIG (i want this party to be totally awesome, and the whole town knowing about and talking about it), So any tips and suggestions would be great. I wanted to do my party at the beach, by unfortunately, I don't live beside the beach or ocean. Anyways, please answer all these questions and give extra suggestions and tips. If you have any stories about your 13 b-day party, that would be great, too!

Well okay. I'm turning 13 on August 23 so i might be able to help. Do your birthday in September it doesn't really matter. You should send the invites about 3 weeks in advance. Yes, you could hire a DJ, because you want this party to be big. For games, try egg races, buy a few pinatas an set those up, you could have a dance off. For food you could have a punch bowl, fresh fruit,coconuts, chips, pop ,whatever you think. For decorations go to a Wal-mart or a party place something like that, and look for things that would fit with your Hawaiian theme. The music would be supplied by your DJ. Fun stuff, you could have your closest friends stay till the party is over and have a sleep-over with them. I don't know how big your town is but try to tell everyone about it, if you want the whole town knowing about it. Hope this helped =)

Cool, my 13th birthday party is coming up really soon too! Anyways, I think it would be fine to do it in September, (wouldn't you rather have one later than have no party at all?). Besides, my friend had her birthday party like 6 weeks after he real birthday too! I usually send me invitations like 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time. I don't think you need to hire a DJ, you could just make a playlist for your party and use speakers outside. I think you should have a pintata shaped into a palm tree, or flower, or beach ball etc. (I know it sounds silly, but its really fun no matter how old you are!). You could also have a water balloon toss, water balloon fight, or water gun fight. (I did these before at my school and it was a blast!). You can also play simon says if you dont want to get too wet. For food I would have water, some juice, and soda (you could put them in plastic coconut cups with the little umbrellas?); also pizza, chips, fruit, and maybe some burgers? You cold use brightly coloured streamers and put out some inflatable palm trees. You can find a lot of random hawaiin themed decorations at most party stores. I think some hawaiin themed food would be some BBQ or kabobs. For music you should play upbeat music that would get the crowd dancing like "SOS" by Rihanna. If you're inviting guys I'd stay away from too girly songs like Hillary Duff and stuff. For other fun stuff you could have a little treasure hunt or scavenger hunt. Hope you're party is a blast!
