  1. don't use shoes and it is normal wait until he is 18 months -2 yrs before worrying.  my daughter didn't walk until 19 months she is perfectly normal.  my first walked at 9 mo.  each child is different

  2. shoes are not going to help him walk. actually they'll make it harder. he'll walk when he's ready, but keeping him out of the walker and carseat will help a lot. he just might not be curious enough to walk yet. and when babies make the decision to walk it's usually a really fast transition... he might be walking next week! and maybe when he does start to walk he'll just take off and start with running. I wouldn't worry until he gets closer to 2.

  3. Both of my daughters started walking at 14 months. And I have actually heard that leaving shoes OFF of kids is best, unless you are going outside. He should not be in a walker or carseat all day, that's for sure.

  4. Some babies don't walk until later on .. but a lot of babies DO walk at 14 months. My son just turned 1 and he RUNS.

I don't think the shoes are a problem; it's best to teach a baby to walk barefoot.

Just take him out of the car seat and walker and hold his hand and help him walk ..

All babies develop at different rates; Einstein didn't talk until he was 3 yrs. old =]

  5. Some babies arent walking at 14 months. It depends on the child, every one is different. They should definitely by 18 months or else that would be a big concern.

  6. Isn't he a tad large for an infant carrier carseat?

Shoes won't help him learn to walk.  The best thing he can do it be barefoot.

Some kids walk earlier than others.  The walker probably isn't helping things, but he isn't technically delayed until after 18 months so try and relax.

I have a hard time with the idea of him in a carseat all day.  He must be a tiny 14 month old if he's still small enough to fit in one of those infant carrier carseats.  My twins grew out of those at 4 months.  They would never submit to being strapped into anything all day without seriously screaming and crying.  They can't even handle their high chairs for more than 20 minutes.

  7. he will walk when he is ready but you are correct about having her send him shoes.. the daycare my son is at , they ask for shoes on the babies that pull them self up

  8. Every kids developmental process is different. If anything, just take the time out each day to hold his hands and walk with him.

  9. You can not put a time frame on when a baby will walk. Most baby's are walking at 14 months. Your sister is not helping him by leaving him in a walker or car seat all day. You can help him by holding his hands and walking him slowly around the room. Or by standing him up, stand back from him and coax him to walk towards you. If this doesn't help your sister needs to take him and get him checked out.

  10. I think my girl waited until 14 months before she took steps.  I was worried, but the doctor said not to.  She then walked on her tip toes most all of the time.  the doctor was concerned for her getting a medical condition called Hammer-Toe.  It did not happen but she is a great Ballerina 3 years and still going.

the shoes need to go on sometime soon.  Buy the kid a present.  A pair of blinking cool sneakers that he won't want to take off.  When he outgrows them get him another pair if mom does not.
