Can I hook up a 14-pin cable to a 15-pin input or do I need to get a 15-pin cable?

  1. I dont think there is a difference. ive never even heard of a 14 pin cable. is it a VGA cable or DVI? im pretty sure it will work fine.


  2. If the connectors align, you should be able to. I'm going to assume that your 14-pin cable just appears to be lacking a pin. That's not uncommon; the VGA connector has a lot of ground pins, and some manufacturers consider those superfluous and leave some out. I can recall seeing as few as 12 pins on new monitors.
