  1. Def depends if you trust them. Does the 14 year old have little siblings of his or her own? I mean, I started babysitting when I was 13, but I have siblings 7, 8, and 12 years younger than me so I already had experience with children.

You can have someone whose 14 and well-experienced, or have a 17 year old who doesn't have any experience with children except for a parenting class (I took one at school and it is SCARY what questions come out of these peoples mouths).

  2. well depends how old the child they are babysitting is. if it's a baby then no. but maybe a 4-6 year old sure if they are mature enough.

  3. Signs point to yes.

  4. It would have to be someone I knew really well and trusted.

I wouldn't trust him/her if I just found them in a bulletin ad at Kroger's, no, or if someone from work just said "Hey, I know someone who babysits."

  5. i'm 15 and i babysit two younger kids one is in second grade and the other is not in school yet. and i think that if you, your husband and you kids get along with her then go for it. but then again she has to responsible for them. i know that you do not have a minute to rest with younger kids they are full of energy. i also think that you should give her emergency numbers just in case something goes wrong. it comes down to do you trust her.

  6. it deoends in the maturity level of the 14 year old, and the age of the child

  7. well it all depends on maturity i have been babysitting my brother sine i was  6...yes 6 yrs old. tough childhood but maybe you should have this person come over an d spend some time with the child/ren he/she will be babysitting observe his/her behavior toward the child/ren and also the child/rens  behavior toward the sitter

                     hope i helped:)

  8. If i knew the 14 year old really well... like she or he was family then yea but only for a few house. but if there was a flyer and the age was 14 i wouldn't. I personally wouldn't hire any one till they were 17 and have a car heaven forbid anything happened to my daughter. Im not a very trusting person so it would take to let some one I wasn't related to watch my daughter. Im a SAHM so i don't need to worry about hiring a sitter... at least for now.

  9. Yes, if the 14 year old is mature and responsible. Make sure you spend sometime with her observing her interaction with your child(ren) and how your child respond to them. Do a trail run. Allow the 14 year old to be fully in charge without your assistance although you are present.

  10. I would. 14 year olds can be very responsible, and children feel more relaxed around them.

  11. Well If he/she is cpr certified and is responsible then I would say yes.

My cousin started to babysit at 14 and she is a great babysiter!

  12. I started babysitting at 12. If you feel confident that the 14 yr old can handle it, then go for it. It's funny, now that I'm a mom I look back at all the years of babysitting and I wonder at how much I didn't know.

However, the one time I didn't feel confident as a sitter was when i watch watching a girl just a year younger than me. That was weird.

  13. Nope. Not a chance. Wouldn't matter if she took babysitting and cpr classes and had 100 references. I'd prefer a babysitter over 18 but I would accept a 16 year old who could drive if she was mature enough.

  14. most states have a age restriction on what age the baby sitter can be, so that parents are not leaving there children home with 7 year olds. Most age restrictions are 12-14. I think it is all dependant on the age of the child  and the 14 year old child, and the circumstances. Is my child sleeping? How often do they babysit. What are there credentials basically.

  15. yea thats how old i was when i started babysitting.

the girl i was sitting for was only like 6 or 7

  16. I really think it depends on alot of different things. I babysat when I was 13 and 14 and I did great. But it was only for a few hours and it was just one child and she was 5. I think if it's for more then one child, or a baby I'd definelty go with like 17 and up. And same if it's for a long time or your someplace that you wouldn't be able to drop what your doing and go to them if needed. I think you should go with your gut. If you don't feel right or your uncomfortable for some reason then listen to that and find someone older and that you trust completely.

  17. it depends on how young the child is and hoe long i have known the 14 years old, she then must have good references. but, i still wouldnt feel comfortable with a 14 year old watching my 5 month old, no offense, i just really wouldnt..being honest

  18. yes if she is mature enough

  19. Test her out for a day or so and set up nanny cams to see if shes good or not that'll prove it for sure is shes a good sitter or not :)

  20. This is a very personal decision and depends so much on the maturity and competency of the sitter as well as the behavior of your kids. I babysat for young children when I was 12 but the parents were careful about how far they went and were always sure I had someone to call if I was unsure about anything.

  21. Sorry no. Not enough life experience. 20+ with first aid course and children's cpr certificate.

  22. yes I started babysitting at the age of like 11 and the kid was 2 years old and I am turning 14 in september and I still babysit him and his brother they are 4 and 1 as a matter of fact I am watching the 1 year old all week from like 7:00am to 4:00pm!!!

  23. Honestly it depends on the 14year old. My niece is 13 and is very immature for her age. So no I wouldn't let her babysit for a long period of time. Maybe just an hour or so.

  24. It totally depends on the child...i babysat at 14 and i did fine.  You should figure out if she gets stressed or impatient easily because if so then i wouldnt because usually those are the ones who dont have patients for a lil baby and it would be safer not to.

  25. I was babysitting other people's children by 13. I've been babysitting my younger siblings ( autistic brother, 2 yrs younger, sister is 7 years younger) since  i was maybe 11? 12? You won't be able to get too many babysitters over 15 years old, because they have lives and won't want to babysit haha ( i would know !)

  26. funny, i thought you meant babysitting a 14-yr old...

    i think a baby-sitter should be at least 16

would you trust yr kid to a kid?

  27. Totally depends on the 14 year old.  I would prefer an older adult was nearby- and if they took the safe sitter course that would be a big plus.  I would be more apt to choose someone 16+ with an infant, but it would really depend on how mature the babysitter was.

  28. I've been babysitting since I was like 12, but I was mature enough. It really depends if you trust them and are tehy mature, enough.

  29. IT depends on if you think he/she's mature enough. I think you should ask a few questions, like a quiz almost.

If you really don't trust them, then i suggest getting somebody else.

  30. It depends on the 14 year old in question. Personally I started babysitting at 11 or 12, but I was a little more mature than most kids my age. I stopped for the most part at 16 because I was in need of a steady job. It might be a little difficult to find a babysitter who isn't at around that age. It's all about who you trust.

  31. it would just depend on how mature she or he was. i started baby sitting when i was 13. started out with two year old twins twice a week for all of saturday and all of sunday for 2 years.
