My aunt and her three children recently came up to visit us. Before they left their house, her 14 year old daughter threw up (a mere 3 hours before leaving). While in the car (about 4 hours later) she ended up throwing up again but besides feeling nauseous she felt fine. She continued to sleep her way through the six hour car drive (which is the longest she had ever slept after waking up (she slept fine the night before; besides feeling nauseous). Once they got here she could barely eat and she felt extremely nauseous. She now can barely eat, can barely drink, can barely sleep, has constipation, SEVERE headache on the right side of her head and severe nausea. An idea's on what might be wrong?

  1. Does she have any neurological deficits? If not she could just be sick, that is progressively getting worse.

  2. Any sort of sudden, severe headache accompanied by nausea and vomiting, especially in an otherwise healthy teen should be evaluated promptly in the emergency room. Although it is most likely something minor, the possible serious ailments that it could be call for immediate medical attention.

  3. ? pregnancy ,

  4. It sounds like a migraine headache.  Give her painkillers and something for the nausea.  If it doesn't go away in a day I suggest taking her to a doctor.
