  1. you may want to repost this question and take it out of preschool.

I'd simply ask some of the 14 yr olds that you know are "good kids" to listen to his ideas.  Nice students will do this for him.

  2. Yes some kind of disability awareness for the rest of the class can be very effective. We did this last year for a student in the 5th grade and his peer acceptance increased and he was invited to start eating lunch with the "popular" kids and had a very good school year overall. He is in M.S. now so we have to redo the same kind of things for a new group of kids. Another idea is also to study a topic that the student knows a lot about. Typically students with asperger's have some great interest that they are very knowledgeable about. If you have a game or activity where the target students already knows most of the answers it forces the other kids to seek him out and they will start to perceive him as knowledgeable and helpful.

  3. Set him to work in the coal mines!  Only joking.

It's not uncommon for one to be ignored, it happens in all groups of society.

Are you the teacher?  If so just make sure you pick him to answer questions (if you think he's capable).

  4. if you are his teacher, talk to his form tutor to ask if she can cover sorts of illnesses (including aspergers, dyslexia, dispraxia, asthma etc.) in PSE lessons this will enable his peers to understand him, ignorance creates questions, they may even be interested to know more about him, therefore they will talk to him. if you are his parent i would ring the school and ask for the tutors name so that you could talk to him/her without embarasing your son by appearing at his school demanding to see someone...Good Luck!!

  5. No matter your good intentions, you will stand no chance in changing other 14 year-olds minds.  All you can do is support him in every other way - do not rely on other people acting the way you know is right.

  6. Encourage his ideas

Discuss how they could work and why.

Get other kids to think outside the box.

    Good luck
