  1. The blood pressure is normal, so you're asking if abdominal pain can be serious. Of course, there are things like appendicitis that present with abdominal pain. There are also trivial illnesses. Be patient.

  2. It's most likely some sort of infection. It could even be some gastritis. There are so many things. It's good they are doing a CT scan. That's the only thing that will tell you what it is. No one can tell if it is "serious" just based on the age and blood pressure. 133/83 isn't extremely high for a 14 yr old. It's high, but "serious" is 200/98.

The best place for him is to be checked out in the ER, his blood pressure could be high because he's in pain or it could be a sign of something to come.

It's just so hard to tell. I hope your grandson feels better.

  3. it depends on where the abdominal pain is...and from the sound of it since his white blood cells are high and he's vomiting it seems to be an infection ..my best guest is appendicitis..he would have the pain on the right lower abdominal area..it may radiate around to the back...there will be pain, fever and vomiting.

doctors tht examine him will know.

  4. The blood pressure is in a good range, but with the severe abdominal pain and vomiting I would have to say appendicitis. If that's what he has, they will do surgery to remove the appendix. I know it's scary when something happens to one of your children or grandchildren, but I'm sure he'll be okay. I wish you all the best and hope you message when you get a diagnosis.

  5. I am now a 26 year old male but I have had high blood pressure since I was about 15 or 16 years of age.

That being said, 133/83 is at the very beginning of high blood pressure, more of a sign to watch it to make sure it does not go higher.  120/80 is the highest range of perfectly normal.

It is always better to be safe than sorry so if any problems persist or it is accompanied by a fever and/or vomiting, I would take him to the doctor.

Also, pain will raise a person's blood pressure, so that could be one reason for the increase in pressue.

Good luck and I hope everything is alright!

  6. His blood pressure could be elevated due to his abdominal pain, especially if his pain is very severe.  But, if this was his normal pressure, I would watch him.  Most 14 year olds don't have pressures this high.

Since you have not detailed where the pain is located, when it started, how severe it is, and what other symptoms accompany it, I can't really tell you if this is something to worry about.  All I can say from this description is take him to the emergency department and let them check him out.

They need to make sure he does not have appendicitis, as well as treat the pain and lower that pressure.  However, the pressure is not the primary concern in this situation, the abdominal pain is what needs to be sorted out first.
