What is the deal with all these 13 - 14 yr old kids saying they need a job? I didn't need a job till I was 16 when I got my first car... ok it was my stepfathers 8 year old car and he got a new one... Before then I got 20 bucks form my grandparents for mowing the lawn and shoveling snow. I never got an allowance and managed to get the things I wanted. Thats what birthdays and christmas are for.

I bet they want a cell phone and their parents won't pay for it.

  1. simple: some aren't as lucky as others and don't get allowance from their parents, but when they hit 13 or 14 they start to want some money for their own, and they want to work for it.

i was the same way. i've always been very thankful for what i have and what my parents have worked hard to buy me, but there were things that i wanted to be able to have. just look at it as a good thing that kids are working at a younger age - they'd prefer it to borrowing money from daddy.

  2. They probably got their 12 year old girlfriend pregnant and need to support a child. And who says teen parents aren't responsible?

  3. I'm 15 nd ya I do need to put money into my phone and I just want to work to go into town with my friends and go to the cinema without my mom paying fo everything and I need things for my guitar and stuff like that...

Whats wrong with wanting to earn your own money?!?!

  4. Kids like me...I raised my family my whole life

I neededca job at 14 and now at 16 Im working 3 mmk

  5. These kids are taking the initiative to take charge in their life. They are learning how to work in order to buy the things they want rather than relying solely on their parents. They are learning responsiblity.

  6. well there could be alot of reasons

1, independence it feels alot better buying things with ur own money then always askin someone for it

2, not everybody can ask their parents for money and the stuff they want because the family just cantr afford it so they hav to buy it themselves

i had my first job wen i was 14 and i still got it and im almost 16

i worked for both the reasons it was really cool bein abe to buy my own things instead of askin someone

also i grew up up with a big family so it was hard for my aunt and uncle to get everybody wat they wanted for christmases and birthdays

    hope this helped:) <33

  7. I started working odd jobs when I was 12 . . by the time I was 16 I had enough to buy my own car, I also paid for my drivers ed class . . there were other things I wanted albums(yeah i'm old), concert tickets, clothes and Taco Bell food . . theres nothing wrong with wanting to work . . .

  8. Hey!

It's good for a 14 year old to do odd jobs here and there, it teaches them how hard their parents have to work for the everyday items such as food on the table.

Why would you want a car at sixteen? It is a waste of money at that age however that is your choice and I'm entitled to my opinion.

  9. why is anyone complaining about 14 yr olds wanting jobs?  At least they are willing to work for what they want whatever it may be.  If they are responsible they should reap the benefits

  10. Yeah, probably cell phones.

I think it's good that they're getting jobs so young though.  It will teach them responsibility and the value of money :)

As long as their grades aren't affected, I think it's great.

  11. Some are just ignorant, but some may really need the money to support their single mother or something.

  12. I'm 14, and I have a job as you need clothes (and music is my passion - always needing new material!) I'm still growing, so clothes don't fit me for more than 3 months, so I need new clothes alot. My parents won't buy me anything. In a way that's good as I appreciate it more. I help out alot around the house. I don't get an allowance from doing chores - it's sort of 'paying my way' without paying. I share cooking dinner and washing up. I also clean up after dinner and mow the lawn when it's needed. My siblings do similar chores.

  13. its a good thing that young teens wanted a job. it will teach them the value of money and responsibilites. not to mention being independent.

  14. Some parents do make their kids work odd jobs to get the things they want. It's teaching them responsibility and managing money. Trying to get them to know that things in this world aren't cheap. And if they want that extra stuff that parents don't buy for them, then they will go out to work odd jobs.

Some kids want to help bring money into the home. Especially if they only have one parent that doesn't make enough money for the family.

Now a days, most kids have to worry about money just like their parents do. And it's not fair to them because parents problems should not be subjected to their children...but when it comes to money problems, it's hard to hide that since you can't give your child most things.

It's hard to realize this, but kids have it tougher today, than 20 years ago. The Economy does not make it easy for families now a days.
